Aug.18,2010More than ever before, today where key Leah where is the importance of making proper, environmentally responsible decisions in everything we do. This includes our kitchens. Whether we are building a new kitchen, remodeling an old kitchen, or even just in the way that we use our existing kitchen, it is very possible to make better, more environmentally and ecologically wise and friendly decisions. Make natural surface cleaners. There are several natural options for creating homemade surface cleaners to replace the over-perfumed and chemical sprays of store-bought cleaners. The simplest and most effective homemade cleaners use baking soda, lemon juice and water. This combination removes odors, offers scrubbing capabilities and leaves a fresh scent once the surface is clean.
A second option is a mixture of white vinegar and water though people don’t always like the scent that remains. Another great way to green up your kitchen is by buying only really good quality cooking tools that will last a long time. A few good quality stainless steel pots and pans, a good cast iron frying pan, and some sturdy wooden utensils can last you a lifetime if you take care of them. Avoid Teflon coated pans as they have a limited life-time and there are some health concerns over the use of Teflon. Taking a little bit of time to plan your kitchen can pay huge dividends in the long run. Not only will you save money, improve the resale value of your home, but you will be benefiting all of us and the environment at the same time. It is truly the right thing to do.
